Where to begin. La Tavernetta is tucked away in a neighborhood near Hofbräuhaus. In a city filled with Italian restaurants, this place is a gem. Welcoming staff, inviting menu filled with Italian classics and new specials ensure the dinner (or lunch!) will be delicious. We ordered both the Pizza Funghi (mushrooms) and Diavola (Spicy Salami) along with assorted beers/radlers (It was hot!) It isn’t an understatement to say this pizza is the best in Munich. If you like your pizzas with a thick cornice, perfectly baked with deliciously melted cheese and tomato sauce, La Tavernetta delivers it all. Fresh salads and seasonal appetizers make this a meal to remember. After our first visit, we went back two more times!

Authentic Italian. High attention to detail, friendly professional service. Great central location. Pizzas highly recommended. However somewhat a more formal atmosphere than anticipated.

The food was amazing. My wife had the tiger prawns pasta and I had the rib eye steak plus goat cheese and eggplant antipasto and the ripasso recommended by our waiter perfectly complimented the meal. Next time we come back to munich we definitely will visit again. Reservations recommended

Not what you would expect coming to Europe for Italian food. My wife had the Lamb Ragu and ragu to us means a red sauce, and there was no red sauce. The lamb was not like any lamb we had before this was in squares and the texture was off. I had the risotto with mushrooms and they smelled like they were grilled or smoky (different for sure) it was tasty. Our waiter was a nice Italian boy very kind and helpful. If you’re looking for a quiet restaurant, this may be just up your alley, if you’re looking for truly Italian and your American, it might not be for you. For a Monday we walked in but many tables had already been marked reserved.

Quaint Italian restaurant and very authentic. We shared the beet carpaccio with buratta, beef tartare and break with tuna sauce - our favorite! Highly recommend.
