St. Peter am Perlach is a Catholic church in Augsburg, Germany, best known as the home of the famous Baroque painting “Mary Untier of Knots” (Maria Knotenlöserin). Here’s how they connect: 🕍 St. Peter am Perlach A Romanesque church located in Augsburg, Bavaria. Originally built around the 11th century, it has been renovated in different architectural styles through the centuries. Inside the church, there is a special devotion site dedicated to Mary, Untier of Knots. 🎨 Mary, Untier of Knots A Baroque painting created around 1700 by Johann Georg Melchior Schmidtner, an artist of Augsburg. The painting shows the Virgin Mary patiently untying a knotted white ribbon, symbolizing her role in interceding with God to resolve the problems, sins, and difficulties in people’s lives. Around her are angels handing her the ribbon, while the Holy Spirit (as a dove) shines above. The painting reflects an old devotion based on St. Irenaeus of Lyon’s words: > “The knot of Eve’s disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary.” 🌍 Devotion’s Spread Though long venerated locally in Augsburg, the devotion became worldwide in the late 20th century. It was particularly popularized by Pope F

A wonderful image of Mary, The Knots Untier, is venerated here. The story and the image is inspiring for all marriages, especially those in difficulties.

Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, Every single time I have brought a broken thread, a burdened heart, or a complicated knot to your feet, you have listened. You did not look at the mess I created with judgment; instead, you took it into your immaculate, loving hands and patiently smoothed it out. Because of your powerful intercession, I have been deeply and consistently blessed. Thank you, sweet Mother, for your endless patience and your fierce, quiet love. Thank you for always leading me closer to your Son, Jesus. I renew my devotion to you today, trusting completely that no knot in my life is too stubborn for your grace to undo. Keep me always under your protective mantle.

This is a very small Church where you can find the most beautiful painting of the Virgin Mary Undoer of Knots, our beautiful Mother. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary taking the knots out of a long white ribbon. Pope Francis does have a special devotion to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots.
