München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

In winter they have a great “Middle ages” Christmas market, similar to a small “Renaissance Fest” in America. Great music, great food, and many different drinks. A fun place to spend two hours and then go walk to the park.

Went for the medieval style christmas market. Was treated to some live performances. Cup deposites are 10 euros each, and cash only! Overall pleasant experience.

One of the best Christmas markets! It is quite unique (medieval theme and every hour they do a special performance, which is very cool). Comparatively small but very good variety and in top location.

My experience was completely ruined by the man selling nuts by the entrance. I arrived very excited to the Christmas market and started taking pictures. From the distance the man at the stall shouts “it’s 5€!” I get closer to see what he had in his stall. When I was close enough he repeated “it’s 5€ for taking pictures” I laughed but he then pointed to his menu where he has that written. I smiled and started walking away, thinking this is clearly a joke. But he then proceeded to shout abuse demanding payment. I kept looking over my shoulder expecting to see him again demanding money. All of the other stalls are happy for you to take pictures. But that man ruined the experience for me so I ended up leaving.
