München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Another of Leo von Klenze's places. It looks really nice. The obelisk for the people that died in the Napoleonic wars... I gotta admit even though it is beautiful the place doesn't really have a lot of life, but is cool to see the conflict of different ways of transport. I pass with my bike and I have to admit the Obelisk is kinda distracting...

⭐ Karolinenplatz, Munich A quietly elegant meeting of history and design in Maxvorstadt! Ringed by radial avenues and crowned by a solemn 29 m black obelisk (1833) honoring Bavarian soldiers lost in Napoleon’s 1812 Russian campaign. Designed in Parisian style, this “radiant square” invites you to pause—flowers in season, trams gliding by, and time moving at its own pace. Nearby landmarks include the Amerika-Haus, Prinz-Georg-Palais, and the Stock Exchange building. Deep in history yet peacefully modern. #Munich #Karolinenplatz #HistoricalSquare #UrbanOasis #NeoclassicalCharm

Karolinenplatz - features a striking 29-meter-high black obelisk, erected in 1833 to honor the ~30000 Bavarian soldiers who died in Napoleon’s Russian campaign. The plaza’s star-shaped layout makes it a central point connecting key city streets with a touch of historical significance.

It’s not only just a roundabout where traffic goes around as well as tram passes through there but has an interesting landmark in the middle of it which is 29 metre tall bronze obelisk. It’s for tribute 30,000 Bavaria soldiers who died during failed Napoleon invasion of Russia in 1812. There’s beautiful flower beds around. Looks beautiful specially in summer.

There is an interesting landmark to see at Karolinenplatz. It is the 29 metre tall bronze obelisk which commemorates the 30,000 Bavaria soldiers that died during Napoleon's failed invasion of Russia in 1812-13. The obelisk was designed by German architect Leo von Klenze and was interestingly cast from captured Turkish guns from the Battle of Navarino in 1827. It is dark in colour from this material. At the base you will find memorial inscription and leafy garlands ornamentation, as well as a three step marble platform for which the obelisk stands upon. The landmark is surrounded by grass and flowerbeds and circled by tram lines which pass through small Karolinenplatz. The flowers give colour to this small square, making it nice to enjoy the obelisk during summer months.
