I recently went to this office to register for the Einbürgerungstest. The staff, especially Mohammad and his Iranian colleague, were very friendly, helpful, and spoke great English.

No self paid offline intensive courses available until next 4 months. So sad the administration is not bothered about it and just want push us for online courses.

After attending several courses with unmotivated, boring and even xenophobic teachers, I found Neukölln's VHS and I think when something is good we have to spread the word... There I met Annette who is the most empathetic teacher I have ever seen; Cláudia who is the most exemplary professional that can exist, but "sem perder la ternura jamais"; Martina, who as my friend Murilo said, is not just a teacher, but a performer, who could easily have thousands of followers on YouTube; I also mention Jennifer, Wiebke, Àgoda and all the staff at the secretariat who are always very friendly. Despite I was not on an integration course, I must point out that it was more than I could have expected from one, where I learned a lot about Germany, where I had help with domestic and kita topics, lots of professional talks and cultural tours. I can only say thank you! PS: I'm writing in English, not because I didn't learn German, but to help those who don't know the language and are looking for a good school.😁

Ich hatte eine ausgezeichnete Erfahrung bei der VHS! It’s a bit difficult to register, with many classic aspects of German bureaucracy that you can avoid at private schools, but once you get a place in a class, it’s so worth it. The teachers really care and it’s a student focussed class, rather than just following the textbook. I recommend it over the private schools any day!

I don't know if other reviewers here are aware, but you have to make an APPOINTMENT for a specific time slot before you go to the VHS. My experience was very positive - I came for my appointment, had a short talk with a very nice lady in the office, did my assessment test and was assigned to a course. Everything done within 45 minutes, no problems whatsoever.
