In Spain we had no problems to rent a car via sunny cars although I would recommend to book directly at Cicars. I reserved 2 times a car via sunny cars for Durban, South Africa, and both times I didn't get the type of car I reserved. So can't recommend it for that destination.

We rented a car on Maui for 11 days, and everything went smoothly; we didn't have any issues. After we booked, we learned they partnered with Alamo. We loved that they had the best price for the same services. Everyone we spoke with was friendly and polite. We had an initial booking issue due to a seasonal discount code, but they were able to merge our orders. They were prompt with their response and help. We loved how they covered all the insurances and extras without having to worry about anything happening on the road. The online process is fast, and the payment link was sent to us within 24 hours. The cancellation policy is reasonable. We were very pleased with their service and look forward to booking a rental car through them again in the future. I think this was our 3rd rental through Sunny Cars. The car was clean and worked well, and the process to pick up and drop off was easy. The car had A/C, all wheel drive, plenty of places to plug in your chargers, you could connect your phone to the car for directions, it had a nice screen for navigation, plenty of washer fluid, and didn't go through a lot of gas despite being an SUV. Sunny Cars as a broker is generally okay. Their all inclusive package is a good concept. However, it strongly depends on the country where you use it. In Switzerland I had no issues at all. The cars were clean, well maintained and in excellent condition. I received high quality vehicles like an Audi Q7, Volkswagen ID.3 or VW Touran, all in near new condition. In South Africa my experience has been consistently very poor, especially with Europcar. Despite booking through Sunny Cars multiple times in Cape Town and Johannesburg, I always received disappointing vehicles. The cars that are advertised, such as Toyota or Volkswagen, are usually not actually available. Instead you almost always end up with a Suzuki in very poor condition. The vehicles are worn out, dirty and often not technically sound. I had multiple serious issues. The interiors were extremely dirty and smelled bad, often damp and moldy. The technical condition was poor, including gearbox, clutch, brakes and suspension. Some vehicles did not feel roadworthy at all. In one case the driver’s seat even came loose while driving. We were an American group that rented cars through a Travel agent that contracted the rental with Sunny Cars during our trip to Scotland in October 2025. One reason we used Sunny Cars was they offered 100% coverage in case of an accident. Unfortunately, an accident did occur. The rental car company (Hertz) made a $2,884 USD to the credit card. We were assured Sunny Cars would reimburse us. Sunny Cars asked for a statement on the accident and a copy of the credit card charge which we sent to them on November 30, 2026. We have been working with the Travel Agent and I have also personally contacted Sunny Cars. Since November 30, 2026 we have been told so many excuses (during early December we weretold they are working on it, then the fist of January we were told the reimbursement was held up because of the holidays, an email was sent from Sunny Cars to the Travel Agent on February 10, 2026 that the reimbursement was sent to the USBank Account provided to them in November. When I followed up today their said they will look into it. This began in November and now we are 3 months into waiting for the reimbursement. We booked our car through Sunny Cars in Vancouver. The car was fine and the handling through Alamo Rent-a-Car was professional. Upon return, we asked Alamo in Vancouver if we can return the car early and they offered the possibility and promised us a refund, which would be made through Sunny Cars. After reaching out to Sunny Cars, their "Customer Service" lied to us (said they paid the full amount to Alamo, which I saw back in Vancouver that they did not) and then said they only offer early return refund in case of sickness or death. I think it's both unprofessional and disrespectful to lie to customers and only offer refund of "goodwill" in case you can offer them a *death certificate*! Anyhow, will try to avoid this renting company in the future as they really do not offer any flexibility.
