Würzburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in Würzburg, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

This wonderful church is located away from the main tourist crowds. We were alone both outside and inside the church and were able to enjoy the magnificent building and the peaceful atmosphere.

A serene and absolutely stunning church in the heart of Würzburg! St. Johannis in Stift Haug totally surprised me — the moment you step inside, the space feels calm, bright, and incredibly elegant. The architecture is a beautiful blend of Baroque history and modern restoration, and the tall, clean interior lines give it this peaceful atmosphere that makes you slow down instantly. The organ is impressive, and if you’re lucky, you might catch someone practicing — the acoustics fill the whole space beautifully. The artwork and sculptures are tasteful and not overwhelming, so you can really appreciate the details without feeling crowded. It’s also very easy to reach, just a short walk from the city center, and never too busy, which makes it a perfect quick stop if you’re exploring Würzburg. Whether you’re into architecture, photography, or just want a quiet moment, this place is 100% worth visiting. Highly recommended!

a church based on the Italian architecture with its Dome amd 75m towers. it goes back to the 1700, heavily damaged during ww2 and reconstructed. the renovation though is impressive.

I went on Christmas day. There is a notice saying no sightseeing, so I didn't go inside. Just took some photos and saw the wood sculpture of Jesus. I think it is a place worth a go.
