I strongly believe Standesamt is taking all the reviews seriously. Our experience was very positive from the start. Any queries or doubts can be clarified via email and the response is fast. As for the birth certificate, if all documents are in order as per the guidelines, we can obtain within one or two weeks. If there's no response within two weeks, email them as there might be issues with the postage or paperwork. However, as far as the baby's name is concerned, the rules are very strict. As for foreigners, make sure the marriage certificate is endorsed by the respective foreign ministry, German embassy and German translated much earlier. In addition, like many other countries, I believe this process should be completely made online which would reduce waiting time and postage errors. Good luck to all.

The lady on the second floor was cold and rude. She seemed like a person frustrated with work and with the desire to finish as soon as possible. We went here for a second anmeldung because of a move within Nuremberg and I wanted to have the opportunity to change the address on my vehicle documents as described on the Nuremberg website. The lady replied very rudely and hastily that this was not possible and that I had to make an appointment at KFZ-Zulassung. However, it was clearly written on the Nuremberg website to bring the vehicle documents to the second appointment for anmeldung.

Today i was denied my baby’s 6 week check up the second time in two weeks because this Office couldn’t deliver Birth certificate on time, after SIX DAMN WEEKS they ask us to get an apostille marriage certificate that can now take other few weeks and my baby won’t get a proper check up. Do your cold minds have any idea how bad that is? Why you people are so eager to get paid through OUR taxes but are so damn lazy to get the work done?! Pathetic!!

You should always be on time but sometimes emergencies happen. My husband and I had an emergency with our newborn baby and we were 12 minutes late. They said we were too late and that they canceled our appointment. We tried to explain our situation but they would not listen to anything that we had to say and said we need to leave. They kicked us out before we had a chance to explain why we were late. They make people who are on time wait 30 minutes to be seen. So I don’t understand why they canceled our appointment after 10 minutes. Warning!! If you are 10 minutes or more late, regardless of your situation they will kick you out. Make sure you are on time. They don’t care about you or what you have to say!

Unpleasant and extremely rude towards anyone not speaking perfect german. The lady in the 2nd floor could not be more unhelpful (I think Germany is a great country, until you meet people like this).
