Just finished the A1 course. Expertise, personality and love are infused profusely in what's on offer here every step of the way. As for the practical side of things, I was looking for something thorough rather than a shortcut to make sure that I have strong foundations going forward and boy did this course do just that! My GOETHE A1 mock exam was a walk in the park! So grateful to have found SG and I can't wait to continue grinding towards my ultimate goal of B2 (and perhaps even C1!)

Just finished A1 so far and this is exactly the type of structure I was looking for to keep me motivated in my German journey! Michael combines: 1) Structure from A1-C1 2) Flexibility through being able to do this course whenever you have time and from the comfort of your home since it's online (I usually do it from 6-7AM before work because I'm way too tired after work. Physical German classes don't have this aspect). 3) Funny/weird mnemonics (which make you remember even better) 4) Great stories to keep you engaged 5) Affordable price. It's 30 EUR/month, but if you really can't afford it, you can email him and pay 10 or even 5 euros per month! I want to pay 30 because this helps fund people that actually can't afford it + Michael and his team really deserve it for all the hard work they did to get it this far.

This course is excellent. It’s well structured, you actually learn, and it’s obvious that a lot of work went into making it function properly as an online platform. It’s not just some random course thrown together. The quality of the content is very good. The course is quite dense and provides useful tools to really learn articles and vocabulary. It also includes grammar lessons that avoid the endless tables and pointless stuff that usually make learning grammar frustrating. Of course, the course won’t learn German for you. But if you have the discipline to sit down every day and make a bit of progress, I highly recommend it. For me, it was the only thing that allowed me to practice consistently and keep learning at my own pace and rhythm. I would never have achieved the same results in traditional in-person courses, which honestly had me pretty frustrated. I’m very grateful to Michael — he has done a tremendous job with these courses. If you’re willing to put in the effort yourself, they are worth every euro. Thank you, Michael. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without your help. :D

SmarterGerman is hands down one of the most effective and enjoyable ways to learn German online. The course is brilliantly structured, easy to follow, and incredibly motivating, turning even complex grammar into something clear and manageable. The teaching style is engaging and practical, with smart explanations and real-world examples that make the language stick. Progress feels fast and rewarding, and the confidence you gain along the way is amazing. I'ts so clear Michael cares about his students and his course, I really appreciate all the effort he puts in.

SmarterGerman is on par with the top programs. The learning methods are simple and far more effective than Duo Lingo. Michael is offering free classes with the option of paying a few bucks a month to help keep the program going. It's definitely worth it.
