Immer ein Blickfang am Haidplatz, die historische Mittelalterliche Patrizier-Hausburg mit Turm, später dann die sogenannte Neue Waag. Der nördliche alte Kern der Anlage, die Patrizier-Hausburg mit Turm wurde um 1300 vom Regensburger Patriziergeschlecht der Gumprecht erbaut, später erweitert und umgebaut. 1441 wurde der gesammte Besitz von der Stadt Regensburg erworben, um dort die Stadtwaage unterzubringen, für deren Betrieb ein angrenzender großer Platz benötigte wurde. Von dieser Nutzung leitet sich der heutige Name der Hausburg her. Bei der Waage handelt es sich in einer Stadt oft um ein neben dem Rathaus und den Sakralbauten besonders großes und monumentales Gebäude. In diesem befindet sich in vorindustrieller Zeit die öffentliche Waage. 1541 wurden die Räume des Hauses für ein Religionsgespräch genutzt, das auf Wunsch von Kaiser Karl V. religiöse Gräben zwischen Katholiken und Protestanten überwinden sollte. Bei dem Regensburger Religionsgespräch zwischen Johannes Eck und Philipp Melanchthon wurde vergeblich versucht, die religiösen Gräben zwischen Katholiken und Protestanten zu überwinden. Schönes Haus am Haidplatz in Regensburg. Wenn man an diesem Haus die Stadtmaus (eine kleine versteinerte Maus an der Front vor dem Fenster des Musikgeschäfts Zittl) streichelt, vorher aber einen Wunsch sich überlegt und diesen für sich behält, kann sie einem Glück bringen und diesen ggf. in Erfüllung gehen lassen der Sage nach. Diese Maus kann als Andenken an die Stadt auch in der Tourist-Info am Rathausplatz erworben werden.

Das Patrizierhaus ais dem 14. Jahrhundert ist auffällig rot angestrichen und hat einen etwas pummeligen Turm. Heute ist hier ein Musikgeschäft und das Verwaltungsgericht untergebracht. Beide haben aber nichts miteinander zu tun. Trotzdem passt das Gebäude gut zu dem mittelalterlich geprägten Haidplatz.
