Iconic bridge in Regensburg. Had some ice cream on the other side with the kids then a stop at a beer garden next door for some cold refreshments and a bite to eat 😊

A picturesque bridge in a charming old town but after visiting the Charles Bridge in Prague recently, this bridge is underwhelming. The top of this bridge is just too plain and like a modern bridge.

It's one of the oldest valuted stone bridges in germany , its a land mark of medieval engineering and a centrepiece of the city's UNESCO heritage status. We enjoyed our day here . Just sit by the river enjoy the views .The bridge is a popular gathering spot for sunset and photography ,but unfortunately when we visited it was a rainy day still we enjoyed the views . One can also take the regensburg city cruise tour from here . The bridge is open for pedestrian and bicycle riders ,but strictly not for the cars.

The Stone Bridge in Regensburg dates back to 1135 and is the oldest stone bridge in Germany. Designed by an unknown builder, it was completed in 1146. At that time, Regensburg was one of the most prosperous and populous cities in Germany. For this very reason, it was decided to build a bridge to cross the river as safely, quickly, and easily as possible. The construction was commissioned by a group of wealthy Regensburg merchants and the then Duke of Bavaria. At the time of its inauguration, the Stone Bridge was actually the only "fixed" bridge across the Danube between Ulm and Vienna, as many other wooden bridges were regularly destroyed by high water. In Regensburg, there are many legends surrounding the construction of the Stone Bridge. One of them tells that the bridge's master builder and the cathedral's master builder made a bet over which of the buildings would be completed first. When the bridge's master builder noticed that construction was slowing down significantly, he made a pact with the devil. The devil would support him in exchange for the first three souls to cross the bridge. Thanks to the bet, the Stone Bridge was completed in record time, well before the cathedra

Visited on Sunday and was so busy at that time on the bridge. so stunning views and the wind come from the Danube river make so much of a pretty environment there. The perfect place to stay and enjoy your vacation day. The river bank of the Danube is so stunning in the afternoon.
