München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

Beautiful building with air conditioning, both exterior and the interior space are very nice, the visiting flow is clear and streamlined, and there are plenty of lockers at the basement too. As some other museums in Munich, one could pay 1€ to visit on Sundays. This is the best way to enjoy this museum as there is not too much to see: there are only 3 floors of exhibition space with a majority of the works left you head scratching on why these are in a museum. The only highlights are the few Andy Warhol works and the building itself.

I'm not much in to modern art but I admit there's some interesting exhibits in this museum. I would recommend going on a Sunday (on this day it only cost 1€)

I guess I'm not sophisticated enough for contemporary art. At some point I dissociated and started thinking about Valerie Solanas' (👑) beef with Andy Warhol.

Opened in 2009, Museum Brandhorst stands as a vibrant beacon of contemporary art within Munich’s Kunstareal, instantly recognizable by its innovative multi-colored ceramic facade. The museum houses the spectacular Udo and Anette Brandhorst Collection, which focuses extensively on pioneering artistic movements from the mid-20th century to the present day. At the core of its identity is the world's most significant holding of works by Cy Twombly outside the United States. The upper floor features a monumental, custom-designed gallery specifically built to display Twombly’s expressive, large-scale "Lepanto" painting cycle. Beyond Twombly, the collection boasts an unparalleled selection of masterpieces by Andy Warhol, tracking his journey from early graphic design to iconic pop art. These works are brilliantly juxtaposed with influential pieces by Joseph Beuys, Damien Hirst, and Sigmar Polke, creating a dynamic overview of modern avant-garde expression. Stepping inside the museum, the architectural transition from the lively exterior to the quiet, oak-floored galleries shifts one's inner focus. Standing before Cy Twombly’s explosive bursts of color and raw, calligraphic lines feels lik
