About AMUSEUM of Contemporary Art | Street Art Museum

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Brilliant exhibition, brought back memories of the era!

I visited this small museum/gallery recently and saw the punk exhibition there. Maybe the fact that I was on a date put me in an especially generous mood, but I genuinely found the place charming and intimate. I liked that visitors received printed material explaining the works and listing titles and artists. That already made the exhibition much easier to follow than in many contemporary galleries. That said, I would have appreciated a bit more background about the ideas behind the works — for example, what themes the artists were exploring, or what intentions and cultural context shaped the pieces. Especially with a topic like punk, the attitude and historical meaning behind the art can be just as interesting as the visuals themselves. Still, it was a very enjoyable visit, and the smaller, personal atmosphere of the museum made the experience feel relaxed rather than overwhelming.

Glad to see this space being filled with contemporary art - exhibition NoName - Sell la Vie posters represented a mix of thought provoking and humorous messages about life dynamics. Cannot rate as 5 despite loving the concept as visit arrangements are not transparent. Seeing “Eintritt Frei” you do not expect to proactively be offered to make a donation, especially seeing initiative being supported by the city of Munich.

Very nice place for street art. I enjoy spending time here, as they always pick interesting artists that deliver a strong message. Recently saw the Escif exhibition here. As the motto puts it: positive propaganda.

What Sebastian and his team at Positive Propaganda / AMUSEUM of Contemporary Art have created, turning an old bookshop, into a new museum capable of housing 100 pieces of art from one of the World’s best artists is frankly incredible! You might get to see Shepard Fairey prints, or editions in other museums or galleries around Europe - but when you see original pieces, it is a completely different experience. Shepard has built layer-upon-layer into the pieces, often based on extracts from old newspapers. You get much more of the context of the issue he is trying to provoke you to think about. I absolutely recommend a visit to AMUSEUM in Munich. Not only will you get to see an amazing collection from one of the great artists, but the welcome from the team was so genuinely warm & friendly. The exhibit runs until April 2023, but why wait! As for the man himself, Mr Shepard Fairey… getting to meet him was a real privilege. He must have spent over 4 hours talking to the hundreds who came to the opening, and I never once had the impression he was going through the motions. He answered so many questions sincerely, with a level of depth and honesty, it gave a real insight into what he i
