Würzburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in Würzburg, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

The Kiliansbrunnen (Kilian Fountain) is a historical monument in Würzburg, Germany, located directly in front of the Central Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof). Gifted by Prince Regent Luitpold in 1895, it features a statue of St. Kilian, the patron saint of Franconia, on a chalice-shaped structure.

It's pretty cool for something you just stumble upon when leaving the train station. It's not like some crazy, must-see thing you'd travel miles for, but it's definitely a nice little spot to take a breather.

The Kilian Fountain is located just outside Würzburg Central Rail Station. This was a gift to the city by Prince Regent Luitpold in 1895. We visited during December when the fountain was understandable not in operation. What you see is a bronze statue of Patron St. Kilian standing atop a chalice shaped structure with a fairly large bowl mid way to a ground level basin. Water likely spills from the bowl into the basin below during the warmer months of the year. Still a nice fountain monument to view for a moment or two upon arrival or just before departing Würzburg.

Beautifully situated landmark once you get off from the central station. Amazing history from its side showing relics of the deportment of the Jews.
