For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

Opening hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 9:30 am–7:30 pm. It is closed on Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 5234552. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, facebook.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 948 reviews, which is a strong result for a griechisch in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We found Ionion while walking in Munich and were truly excited to try the food (which was delicious). Only AFTER finishing our meal were we told they don't accept card - only euros in cash (which we didn't have, since we're from Switzerland). The cash-only policy is fine, but please inform people BEFORE they sit down.

XXL Gyros is absolutely massive 😄 but also incredibly delicious. Honestly probably one of the best gyros spots in Munich.

Tried their XXL gyros. Huge and tasty. I recommend this place a lot

We went here with such high expectations because my partner read the reviews that raving how authentic the gyros is. When we came there were vacant tables and as other reviews mentioned, they had only several of them. We ordered regular and XL size and how happy we were that the gyros were excellent and they met our expectations! Bring cash when you come here and get ready to share tables with other patrons. They have box shelves to leave your coat and bags if needed :)

Amazing fries. The bread was soft. The tzatziki was creamy. The meat is a little on the dry side. I didn’t see a rotisserie. They were cooking the meat on a flat grill.
