Erlangen is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Erlangen is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

For those who have complained about several things, I will explain it here. Parking - it is not as complicated as it seemed. Instruction was clear and it’s displayed many times in the garage; press the bell for the reception to open the garage, drive in and park. Yes the entrance is tight, bigger car just be careful on the bend. Check in and pay the parking fee, that’s it. I’m assuming it’s expensive because it seems like the town doesn’t really like huge number of cars. Which explains other carparks around that command high rates as well. And also apparent from the high volume of bikes around. Which certainly may not be a bad thing. Room Ventilation - it’s called central AC, of course there is noise. But it’s sort of just a white noise, or a regular AC. Maybe not so common in Germany but it’s everywhere else. Overall - receptionists were friendly throughout. Breakfast was decent, as usual avoid the peak hours. We came at 10am and it was quite empty. The hotel is also located right beside a rather new modern residential and light commercial properties, feels very comfortable. And not forgetting it is also around 3 minutes walk to the main town area, what more do you need. Thum

New one, well located, personnel is very friendly. Big parking underground (a bit expensive) with 5 slots for EV charging. Rooms are very clean and well isolated against external noise. Perfect stay.
