Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–11 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Regensburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Regensburg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

We came across this place while walking through Regensburg and noticed a beautiful courtyard through a passage. It looked very inviting, so we decided to step in and take a closer look. The garden and inner courtyard are truly lovely, with trees, plenty of seating, and a very relaxed atmosphere. With the sun out, it was a really enjoyable place to sit and spend time. The service was also excellent, very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the setting when it came to the food and drinks. The beer service was disappointing. The beers arrived with noticeably reduced foam, which clearly showed they had been poured in advance and left waiting before being served. If you come to a place like this expecting proper beer culture, you expect a fresh pour with a proper head. This detail really matters and takes away from the experience when not done correctly. The biggest issue, however, was the food. I ordered lamb, and it was extremely overcooked to the point of being dry and rubbery. It was honestly one of the least enjoyable lamb dishes I have had. The presentation looked good, but the taste was very disappointing, especially considering t

Great restaurant to eat at in Regensburg! We ordered the meat platter and it did not disappoint—hearty, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The kids were happy with their nuggets and fries, and loved seeing “food from around the world” on the menu. The beer selection was fantastic, with lots of local options to choose from. Our waitress was amazing—super friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for a traditional Bavarian meal in a charming setting!

Hacker-Pschorr was not my first choice for a restaurant in Regensburg, but turned out much better than expected. It has a very nice ambience (especially now with Christmas decorations), friendly and efficient service and good Bavarian food and beer. The shady garden must be very cozy in summer. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially compared to Austria.

Ok, I don’t give many 5 star reviews because most places aren’t amazing and those that is good but overpriced isn’t worth 5 stars. This place had the best pork knuckle in the region as we ate them across the Danube river cruise, there other dishes were just as good and the beer selection are amazing. This place is good and priced reasonable.

Perhaps call for reservations in advance. We went in without reservation, the staff helped us figure a table. In terms of the food options, it’s very classic Bavarian style. Food are delicious, the vibe and service are amazing as extra points☺️ Highly recommend to whoever might want to spend a special occasion with someone special. The portion is large, so make sure you consider to share it with friends.
