Gasthaus Kater Alex is a deutsche in Berlin, Berlin. It is listed at Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße 29, 10585 Berlin-Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, which places it among the local businesses of Berlin that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. Typical hours are 11:00–22:00. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 030 34709065. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, gasthauskateralex.de.

Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 941 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded deutsche & regionale küche in Berlin.

Berlin is in the state of Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany; summers are warm, winters grey and cold with occasional snow, and the dense U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus network puts most businesses within a few minutes' walk of a stop. For directions in Berlin, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

An amazing restaurant, lovely staff. And great for coeliacs. This is hearty, tasty, German food, huge plates - you won’t leave hungry. The owner has family who are coeliac, do understand cross contamination - when we said our son had coeliacs everything he could eat was explained and they took great care of him. The staff were amazing! We had 8 dishes and all were exceptional. So good we went twice during our short trip to Berlin. Highly recommend!

The decor may look a little mediocre but do NOT let that fool you. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The kindest lady ever serviced us and was very very flexible when one of us wanted fries instead of potatoes or rice instead of fries. Portion size was great and the meat was so tender it nearly slid right off the bone. All in all great experience and I will be retuening if ever I am in the area again.

This is a great place for German cuisine. I had the Sweinshaxe mit sauerkraut und saltzkatoffle and it was great! Way too much food for one person, but that is not a complaint. 600-700g of meat and then the sides on top of that. Absolutely delicious and I wish my stomach could have held more! Great atmosphere with great music from the ages. Despite the payment terminal not working, due to another customer dropping it earlier in the day, we figured it out with a bank transfer. Thanks so much to Alex and his mother and cook who all did a great job. Keep up the good work! I'd recommend this place to anyone. And I am not even one for writing Google reviews!

This charming German restaurant offers an authentic culinary experience with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The menu features classic dishes such as schnitzel, all prepared with evident care and traditional flavors. What truly sets this place apart, however, is its impressive selection of gluten-free options. The service is attentive and knowledgeable, especially regarding gluten-free needs. The team is happy to answer questions and provide recommendations, creating a comfortable dining experience for everyone. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the quality of the ingredients is consistently high.
