About Groschen Keller

Unsere ganze Hingabe gilt der traditionellen und modernen deutschen Küche: Küchenchef Oliver Montag pflegt diese Tradition mit frischen und regionalen Zutaten aus kontrolliertem Anbau.

Located at Bismarckstraße 7, 12157 Berlin-Bezirk Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Groschen Keller operates as a deutsche serving Berlin in Berlin. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant mit essen zum mitnehmen, restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 12:00–22:00. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 030 7951987. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is groschenkeller.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 1,082 reviews, which is a strong result for a deutsche in Berlin and suggests consistent service.

Berlin is in the state of Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany; summers are warm, winters grey and cold with occasional snow, and the dense U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus network puts most businesses within a few minutes' walk of a stop. Getting around Berlin is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Berlin and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Groschen Keller was fantastic. I went to elementary school right nearby and have seen this place my whole life, so seeing it still popping 40 years later is incredible. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was completely packed out with locals, not a tourist in sight besides my son and me while visiting Oma. The veal schnitzel was outstanding and the portions were huge. The waitress was super funny and on point despite the crowd. Great food, rich local atmosphere, and still going strong after all these years. Highly recommended.

I'm a German who lives in the United States and comes back to Germany sporadically. I really eat German food as much as I can when I'm in Berlin, and this is one of the best places in terms of quality and value. Monday schnitzel nights are amazing and way underpriced for what you get. The rest of the week, you have a much larger menu than just schnitzels, and the service and the food are really incredible. A place worth visiting.

Loved the old pub atmosphere! I would have loved it if my schnitzel was breaded better, though the kind and attentive service made up for it.

At first when I got in there and restaurant was really full I was mad cause waiter said ‚u sit at the bar or nothing’. With a broken heart why someone can say sth like this I sat at bar chair and started to look around at lucky people who were sitting at normal tables. When we ordered drinks and we got fresh baguette with cream dip, the atmosphere in there hit me. Old school vibe, really good waiter with awesome sense of humour, full restaurant in great mood because of the food they eat. Bar table turned out to be great cause you could watch people from the higher spot. We ordered schnitzel and Käsespätzle. Food was looking good at tasted amazing. For sure we will visit this place again and again and I recommend you to do the same thing.

This is a must stop for anyone looking for Great food and eating experience. The taste of everything we tried brought back so many memories of mom's home made meals. The service was amazing. Super friendly and helpful and so forgiving of our english needs for translation of the menu. Please make this a stop for stomach satisfaction and tastebuds happiness.
