Würzburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We are currently staying at the Dorint Hotel, and unfortunately our experience has not started well. We arrived at 7:00 a.m. after a long journey and had requested an early check-in in advance. We completely understood the response that it could not be guaranteed because the hotel was fully booked the previous night. However, it is now 10:30 a.m., and we have watched a continuous stream of guests checking out. While we understand that rooms need to be cleaned, we believe that, if there had been a genuine willingness to accommodate us, one room could have been prioritised for cleaning so that we could check in earlier. We are travelling with our child, who is currently sleeping in the car in the underground car park while we wait in the lobby. Situations like this are exactly where great hospitality makes the difference. Policies are important, but exceptional customer service often comes from small gestures and a willingness to help when possible. We still hope the rest of our stay will be a positive experience, but we feel disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown so far. Update:12:30 and not even asking if we need anything or if we are ok. Very bad experience
