Regensburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Regensburg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

If you are into dachshunds, as we are, it is a nice place to visit. The "museum" is a massive collection of objects that are all wiener dog related. The gift shop was ok, but I could not understand why they did not have a T-shirt or sweatshirt that touted their museum. I think many tourists, especially from the US, would buy them. Maybe the museum name and a picture of a dachshund? I left without buying anything, which was not my intention when we traveled from Munich mainly to see this museum! Ended up getting a small stuffed dachshund at the train station gift shop of all places!

The museum is very interesting, although I expected something different. It's smaller than I imagined, but you have a lot of things to see. For dachshund lovers is a must and the souvenir shop at the entrance has everything you need at all prices. I would recommend it!

An absolutely wonderful little place that sparks so much joy. Love the themed displays. Maybe not a good idea to go if you are very hormonal, I had to try really hard to not cry a few times 😅

What a wonderful little museum, close to the river in Regensberg, you will find this gem with over 5000 exhibits and lots of information about the dachshund. The owner is lovely and welcoming and her own dogs feature on some of the info about the museum. There is a great little gift shop where you can find everything dachshund. Highly recommended and enjoyable experience.
