This was our fourth stay with Numa for works trips. Our first three experiences were fine and had only some minor inconveniences. This fourth and last stay was an absolute nightmare. During our first night, we were assaulted and intimidated by aggressive men in the laundry room. When we contacted customer service, their "virtual" and remote setup completely failed us. Security took forever to arrive, and the support team went from explicitly telling us in writing that they were reviewing the CCTV footage, only to admit a day later that the cameras were actually completely offline. To make matters worse, the building itself is a security nightmare. The front door lock is entirely broken, meaning anyone can walk in straight off the street without a code. The fire alarm randomly goes off with zero communication, and the property is physically neglected—facilities are used up, and the guest supply closets have been completely empty every time we checked. We were offered a partial refund with a processing time of 21 days(!!) so no sign of it yet. This was the last time we have stayed at a Numa property. We have never been more disappointed.

Everything was just so convenient. The booking and check-in was done through my phone. No hassle, no waiting, just straight to the room. The location also added to the convenience. Charming bars and restaurants everywhere, I had authentic thai food, amazing crêpe, kebab and the best basil smash cocktail ive ever had. All pretty much on one street. I think I got the most out of Cologne staying at this hotel.

Rooms are pretty small, great for a solo traveller but might feel a little tight for two. The air was slightly stale. A portable fan or air conditioner was provided, but it was quite noisy. I ended up opening the windows to air out the room. Using a code to open every single door was a bit annoying at first, but it’s fine once you get used to it. There’s also a new gym with machines and weights, probably one of the better gyms you’ll find in a boutique hotel. The location is great, with plenty of food options nearby and a large supermarket right next door. There’s also a coffee stand outside the hotel. Customer service via WhatsApp takes around 15 minutes to respond, which can be frustrating if you’re locked out due to technical issues.
