About Zum Stiftl Stehausschank

Located at Prälat-Zistl-Straße 12, 80331 München-Altstadt-Lehel, Zum Stiftl Stehausschank operates as a bar serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 089 350966619. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is zum-stiftl.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 238 reviews, which is a strong result for a bar in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

See the other bars, pubs & kneipen in München listed below to compare ratings, hours and locations before you decide. Details on this page come from public sources and may change; confirm anything important by phone before relying on it. Business owners can claim the listing to keep it up to date.

Food was ok, nothing special. Maybe I don’t get German cuisine, food was too dry and not so great. Service was very good.

Popped into Zum Stiftl Stehausschank and had a great time soaking up the local vibe—and being soaked in stares. We experienced what we now lovingly refer to as The Famous German Stare™—that intense, unblinking curiosity Germans seem to have when spotting out-of-towners. It’s like being on display in a human zoo, but somehow charming. No shame, no subtlety, just good ol’ fashioned eye contact that lasts a beat too long. The beer was cold, crisp, and delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and very local, which we loved. If you’re an American, be prepared to be the main character. Worth it for the beer alone. Prost! 🍻

Beer from a keg and a great atmosphere. Get there at noon so you grab seats as it gets super busy with loads of people standing afterwards
