For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.
Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–2:30 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 45207170. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is ukiyogermany.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 473 reviews, which is a strong result for a sushi in München and suggests consistent service.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

The atmosphere was classy but chill with not too loud music, a nice light and welcoming people. It was hot inside so we asked kindly if it was possible to go outside and the manager friendly accepted. My mom always says don’t be afraid to ask… outside there was a nice breeze and we felt very comfy. For the menu, a bit lost with the quantity of choices. The wine came very fast but the food took a while, so plan a bit of time. The degustation went well, it feels like a culinary travel in Japan. If you are in Munich and you crave sushi, it’s the perfect spot. PS: for the restaurant, give other plates for the soy sauce. Lia and Owen

Ukiyo gets a lot right. The Negronis were well-balanced and a solid way to start the evening. From there, the oysters with fish roe were a highlight — clean, briny, and carefully composed. The spicy tuna tartare delivered on both texture and heat, and the nigiri and sashimi were as good as you’d hope: fresh, precise, nothing superfluous. The interior reflects the same sensibility as the food — modern, intentional, and restrained without feeling cold. Service was attentive without being intrusive. If you’re looking for quality Japanese in Munich with a thoughtful drinks list to match, this is a reliable choice.

I recently visited Ukiyo and had a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant’s dim lighting created a lovely and relaxing ambience. We tried the Vasai Sushi Roll, Roku, Bowl with Fish and Hähnchen, and Tofu Tasche — everything was delicious and well-prepared. Highly recommended for a pleasant dining experience.

We had high expectations of this restaurant, but left super disappointed. We had breakfast here and had one of their brioche dishes and the chocolate pancakes. The execution of both dishes was terrible. The brioche was difficult to eat and was soggy. The pancakes were thick, difficult to eat and with very little flavour. I unfortunately do not recommend this restaurant for breakfast.

Came here for brunch and the variety of dishes were rather creative in the different types of flavours they offered. I got the matcha crossaint and it was clear through the colour that the matcha cream was dyed a suspiciously artificial green colour… personally I would have been fine with the faint matcha taste minus the food colouring…
