About Travelex Flughafen München / Landseite Terminal 1 A–B Zwischengang

Located at Terminalstraße W, 85356 Freising, Travelex Flughafen München / Landseite Terminal 1 A–B Zwischengang operates as a wechselstuben serving Freising in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Banks, insurers and money services in Germany are tightly regulated, but products differ in fees, rates and paperwork. Bring your passport or ID card and your Anmeldung certificate to open a Girokonto, ask for the total cost including account fees, and keep every statement. Branches keep weekday hours only, often with a lunch break and one late afternoon; ATMs (Geldautomaten) within your own bank's group, whether Sparkassen, Volksbanken or the Cash Group, are free, while others may charge a fee.

Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 6 am–9:30 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 0151 15319104. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, travelex.de.

With 4.1 out of 5 on Google from 156 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for wechselstuben, kredite & pfandhäuser in Freising. German customers tend to review sparingly and critically, so a mid-range score with detailed comments is often a fair picture.

Freising is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Freising is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Avoid cash refund here, massive loss and poor service. Do not use this Travelex counter for physical cash refunds. Opt for the Global Blue credit card refund instead. If you choose cash, they charge a high service fee (around 7%) and refuse to pay out in Euros. They force you to convert to USD or your home currency using predatory airport exchange rates, which can wipe out nearly half of your total refund amount. The service at this counter is highly unprofessional. When I declined the terrible conversion rate and asked to switch to GlobalBlue credit card refund, the staff member (a Black female agent in the picture below) immediately became hostile. Instead of canceling the transaction, she forced me to step aside and wait for the entire long queue behind me to finish first. Save your money and your time: bypass the cash desk entirely and submit your Global Blue forms to the post box placed at the corner of the store. (But globalblue tax refund may take weeks to process)

It’s a rip off place. Go directly to Global Blue. I wanted my tax refund back in €, they said no. I wanted in Swiss Franc or USD at their displayed rates, they said no. They insisted on giving me back to my passport nationality currency! That’s so stupid and unfair. The general bank rate was €1 = Thai Baht 37.x but they gave me only €1 = 29.04. This is daylight robbery. Don’t use them. They prey on Chinese and Asians mostly.

The service charges are exorbitantly high. And the payout is only in home currency or US $ and not Euros (Tax was paid in Euros). I believe this was to charge for conversion as well. The Global blue counter after immigration is pathetic. Please plan to have atleast 45 mins in hand if you want to visit them. Highly unprofessional. The service was quick and smooth near the check-in area. Special mention and big thanks to Amandeep. She was brilliant and was very supportive and explained everything in detail. If the agency could be reasonable in the service charge and the conversion rates, the experience would have been better. Please visit the official Global blue center near Gates B/C. Wasn't aware there was one there, as the experience with them in the past wrt to service fees was great and they refunded in Euros.
