Really loved my stay at The Base Berlin. The facilities are super modern, the apartment-style rooms are huge and really well equipped, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The common areas are great too, it has a lots of coworking spaces, shared kitchen, a gym and a really nice terrace/rooftop that can be used for different things. The neighborhood is quiet but still has everything you need around the corner, like supermarkets or cafés. Definitely a 10/10

The Base Coliving seems like a great option when you first arrive in Berlin. They don’t require a deposit to make a reservation, and they are quick to provide the landlord confirmation you need for your Anmeldung. It’s only about a 15-minute walk from the S-Bahn and U-Bahn, and there are supermarkets, parks, and plenty of other useful or enjoyable places nearby. The staff are also generally friendly and willing to help. However, I wouldn’t say The Base offers particularly good value for money. You pay around €1,300 for a roughly 20 m² apartment that is clearly not designed to handle hot summers. The bed linen sometimes comes with rather suspicious-looking stains, and there always seems to be something malfunctioning that then remains unfixed for quite some time. At times, even the main entrance doors are left open because they simply don’t work. And just as a reminder: you’re paying around €1,300 a month for this privilege. The maintenance issues can also go beyond minor inconveniences. On one particularly memorable weekday, the fire alarm went off at around 3 a.m. and continued for approximately two hours. I enjoyed my stay at The Base. It's the perfect solution for a foreigner in Germany- They offer long-term contracts with the necessary paperwork (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) to complete your registration process (Anmeldung) which then enables you to complete further tasks like opening a local bank account. It's a perfect base (pun intended) to begin your life in Germany in that they allow payment with foreign credit card and don't require a SCHUFA score. Historically, it's been tough to get an initial foothold because of the circular requirements (can't get an apartment without a SCHUFA, won't have a SCHUFA without a bank account, can't open a bank account without a registered address) I had previously looked at other co-living offerings in Berlin prior to selecting The Base. The key differentiator for me was that they allowed me to do a 1-night trial in a long-term residence. There I had the ability to free-roam the property and explore the Co-Working, Cinema and gym at my leisure. In other words, they had confidence in their offering that I could make an informed decision for myself without being on a guided tour. The in-house maintenance team is responsive when reporting issues
