Kreisverwaltungsreferat der Landeshauptstadt München
Located at Ruppertstraße 11, 80337 München-Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt, Standesamt München | Kreisverwaltungsreferat (KVR) operates as a rathäuser serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Public offices, transport hubs and places of worship follow their own schedules: town halls and Bürgerämter open on weekdays, often only in the morning on some days, and most now require an appointment booked online. Bring your passport or ID card and the completed form for almost any procedure; residence permits are handled by the Ausländerbehörde and taxes by the Finanzamt. Deutsche Post counters and DHL Packstations handle letters and parcels.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 7:30 am–12 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 089 23396060. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, standesamt-muenchen.de.
Its Google rating is 3.6 out of 5 from 424 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect before you commit to a visit.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

I experienced very disappointing service at the customer center today. Given that the online process is rather complex, particularly for foreigners, I chose to visit the office in person. Unfortunately, the staff member turned me away, telling me to either use the online system or come back tomorrow morning. Despite arriving at 3:20 PM—well before their closing time at 6:00 PM—there was a complete lack of appreciation for the time and effort I made to be there.

Fast appointment (less than 10 minutes waiting time), helpful and English speaking staff. Only the sign/indicator inside the building is a bit confusing, you may need a google translator to know which floor has what services. All sign and text are in German. Other than it was great experienced

Website- you can change it to English but some sections are still in german and when you try l translate it goes back to the home page. Infuriating. Website does not have the information I need Called- reception does not speak any English , doesn’t even try, and won’t pass me to any one who does. She keeps saying the reception speaks german (in german). Incredibly incredibly rude and unhelpful tone, repeating herself. The lady then hangs up. The staff should speak English or at least one person. Munich has many foreigners and most will speak English and few will have learnt any German when they arrive. It’s an embarrassment to the German education system and to your recruitment, training and office culture that employees don’t speak any English and what’s worse is they don’t care enough to try or even to psss you to a colleague who may speak enough to help you. They should know some simple phrases and should never hang up on someone after just saying she doesn’t speak English .

Marriage office: always rude, with final racist comment "Das ist Deutschland!" We are an European couple. I don't speak German, while my partner just started the B2 level. We had to deal with the marriage office multiple times to get married. They have been always rude, in my opinion driven by the communication difficulties (no one speaks English there). Usually, even if they have been rude, we managed to communicate, but this last time was unbearable: they did not wait us to put a German sentence together, they were annoyed by our questions, and they commented "Das ist Deutschland" with a slight racist intonation while we were trying to communicate in a mix of poor German and English. Positive note: When we finished the meeting we still had 2 questions without answers. So we went at the entrance and we spoke at the information point. There was a guy in the wheelchair that was really nice and kind to us! If you will read this comment: we are really grateful for your help and kindness! Update: On the day of the wedding they gave us the international wedding certificate of a wrong couple getting married the same day. We had access to all their data and they had access to ours, I g
