Leider wenig erschlossen oder auch nur beschildert. Ortsnamen mit "Speck" etc sind ansonsten idR ein Hinweis auf Römerstrassen mit Kommunikationstürmen ("Speculum"), so wohl auch hier.

phantastische Burg, steht Neu-Schwanstein kaum nach. Jeden Meter des steilen Aufstiegs wert, ein zauberhaftes Ambiente und ein unglaublicher Fernblick. Erstaunlich, dass es in der Weltliteratur so wenig bekannt ist. Lieber sehr früh anreisen, da ab 11:00 Uhr doch sehr viele Touristen kommen.

Ein weitläufiger Ort der Stille, fernab von Touristenbussen. Monumentgleich erhebt sich das antike Bauwerk nach einem beschaulichem naturbelassenen Weg. Eine große Empfehlung für eine vergleichslose Zeitreise ins Mittelalter.

Der Speckerturm ist das letzte Überbleibsel von einer Burganlage die wahrscheinlich eine Nebenburg der Hirnsberger Burg, der Hirnsberger, die auch Hohenaschau gegründet haben. Die Burg Speckstein, die ehemalig ca. 20x25m groß gewesen war, wurde hier auf der Ratziinger Höhe auf 530m Höhe, in der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft von Hirnsberg um 12. erbaut und genutzt. Wahrscheinlich nannte man die Burg nach dem benachbarten Hof „Beim Specker“. Die heute zu sehenden ca. 7,5m hohen Überreste, sind der ehemalige 7x7m große zentralen Wohnturms.
