Salons, spas and fitness studios in Germany are best booked ahead, especially for evenings and Saturdays, and most now take bookings online or through WhatsApp as well as by phone. Gyms usually ask for a 12- or 24-month contract, with the monthly rate falling the longer you sign up for, so read the cancellation clause.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

This is Munich's oldest open air pool! It is a bargain at €6.30 \ €4 entry which can be paid online so no queues. It is a huge site so doesn't feel crowded even on busy days. On site changing, lockers and a reasonably priced cafe plus a super fun and very fast slide! Loads of trees and shade for those who want it. Highly recommended.

I like that there are separate lanes for sport swimming. This is not in all countries. I've just been in Madrid, Spain, in 2 swimming pools and it is not like that. I don't know how it is in other outdoor swimming pools in Munich or Germany.

The area of the pools and the greenery is very large compared to other outdoor pools I've visited. The amount of available lockers is huge and on all three visits I've had so far I've always found more than enough available lockers. I would note that the lockers require a €2 coin to use them (or a card, I have not tried this) so come prepared. There are not all too many changing rooms available however the waiting for one to become free hasn't taken long on my visits if I even needed to wait. The changing rooms are a good size and generally clean. The toilet and shower spaces are good and clean. The area around the lockers and changing rooms also offers enough hairdryers along with mirrors. The main pool is a good size, on cooler days at the start of the outdoor pool season the pool is pretty empty which is really enjoyable for practicing specific skills like flip turns along with swimming standard lanes. On busier warm days I chose to swim in the swimming lanes which are spacious enough, however the average speed in all three lanes was not always ideal and there was sometimes too much variation in speeds. The view and grass around the pool give the pool a nice feeling and makes sh

Schyrenbad in Munich is a great spot to cool off and relax on a sunny day. The pools are clean, the vibe is chill and there’s plenty of green space to stretch out or hang in the shade. Perfect for families, with a fun kids’ area and a relaxed mix of people all around. You can bring your own food and drinks, which makes it feel like a laid-back day at the park, just with pools. Only downside ie that parking can be tricky, especially on busy days, so public transport might be the smarter move. All in all a top choice for an easygoing swim day in the city.

We have been here for the first time under special conditions cause while we entered the outdoor pool there was rain. But #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet saw the water slide in the children’s pool and so we swam while it was raining. And it was great! After about 20 minutes the sun was back we could take our picnic blanket and rest on it in the sun. Fascinating to see: only 15 minutes after the sun was back a lot of more people had entered the outdoor pool. In comparison to the Maria Einsiedel nature pool or to the Freibad West the Schyrenbad is quite small but wonderful. The kids loved it from the first time cause it’s a outdoor pool made more for kids than for adults. Adults have a huge swimming pool but the rest is for kids. And the children’s pool is huge too! The whole outdoor pool looks like being renovated through Corona times. So we recommend this place for families as well as for adults who wanna swim their lanes in the pool.
