Oberschleißheim is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Music was excellent, but extreme hot inside. No matter where you sit you will hear and see.

We visited on a dull wet day so the palace was very quiet. Quite a place with large empty dramatic rooms. It makes you wonder how they lived and used the space. We only looked at the ground floor area before going to the restaurant which was lovely with good food. I had the day menu - chicken with asparagus and potatoes on Wednesday. The gardens are fountains were lovely. Such a big area to explore. We went to the hunting lodge (to use the toilet!) and looked at the porcelain collection. It was very quiet at the hunting lodge but the staff told us that when it rains it is often quiet. It’s a grand place to visit- a bit tricky to get to as you have to go on the sbahn then a bus then walk - if you don’t have a car. We had been lucky to chat to someone who was going the exact same way and showed us the bus stop and where to walk.

The Schlossanlage Schleißheim is a magnificent ensemble of three distinct palaces—the Old Palace, the New Palace, and Lustheim Palace—linked by one of the few remaining grand Baroque gardens in Germany. The centerpiece, the New Palace (Neues Schloss), was commissioned by Elector Max Emanuel in the early 18th century as a monument to his imperial ambitions. Its architecture is a triumph of the Late Baroque style, featuring a monumental facade that stretches over 300 meters and a grand staircase that is considered a masterpiece of European palace design. The seamless integration of architecture and the vast, canal-lined gardens creates a sense of infinite perspective and regal harmony. The interior "collections" are equally spectacular, particularly the Great Gallery, which houses a world-renowned collection of Baroque paintings belonging to the Bavarian State Painting Collections. The opulent state apartments are adorned with intricate stuccowork, vivid frescoes, and lavish tapestries that reflect the height of courtly luxury. Walking through these echoing halls, one feels a poignant mix of awe and reflection. The palaces stand as a testament to the grand visions of the past, yet th

Interesting museum complex, with nice collection of arts. Could be great stop while traveling to airport for many tourists, unfortunately no infrastructure for luggage. Otherwise if traveling light a must stop (plan couple hours especially if weather is nice)

The palace complex is a beautiful place to spend a relaxing day on the weekend. I only visited the new palace (don’t let the name fool you - it was built around 1700) and it was spectacular. The marble work was so impressive. The collection of art is also terrific.
