Banks, insurers and money services in Germany are tightly regulated, but products differ in fees, rates and paperwork. Bring your passport or ID card and your Anmeldung certificate to open a Girokonto, ask for the total cost including account fees, and keep every statement. Branches keep weekday hours only, often with a lunch break and one late afternoon; ATMs (Geldautomaten) within your own bank's group, whether Sparkassen, Volksbanken or the Cash Group, are free, while others may charge a fee.

No opening hours are on file. If you plan a visit, phone first or check the Google Maps link on this page for the latest times, and remember that most shops in Germany close on Sundays and public holidays. You can reach Repräsentanz der DSL Bank Augsburg on 0821 448000; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp.

Its Google rating stands at 2.8 out of 5 from 11 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.

Augsburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

DSL allgemein: das schlimmste, was mir passieren konnte.
