Banks, insurers and money services in Germany are tightly regulated, but products differ in fees, rates and paperwork. Bring your passport or ID card and your Anmeldung certificate to open a Girokonto, ask for the total cost including account fees, and keep every statement. Branches keep weekday hours only, often with a lunch break and one late afternoon; ATMs (Geldautomaten) within your own bank's group, whether Sparkassen, Volksbanken or the Cash Group, are free, while others may charge a fee.
Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–8 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 0911 226778. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is reisebank.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Its Google rating stands at 2.4 out of 5 from 165 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
Nürnberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Nürnberg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Extremely poor customer service. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. The staff were incredibly rude, unfriendly, and clearly made no effort to help. It felt like we had to beg just to receive basic customer service. Everything was done reluctantly, with an attitude that made us feel like we were bothering them by being there. There was absolutely no warmth, professionalism, or willingness to assist. Even when we were simply asking basic questions, the staff behaved as though helping us was an inconvenience. Unfortunately, I had no other option at the time, otherwise I would have left immediately and taken my business elsewhere. If I had a choice, I would never return to this branch. Customer service like this is completely unacceptable, especially for a business dealing with customers and their money. A little courtesy and professionalism should be the bare minimum. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I do not recommend this branch to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. This branch seriously needs to reconsider its approach to customer service. Treating customers with such disrespect is simply unacceptable.

It took 15 days for my money transfer by western union service. Had to visit 5 times to find out what was wrong, but still didn't get it. And also, they sent money to my account in the wrong currency. 👎👎👎

I should have read the reviews first and just done a debit withdrawal from ATM. My bank would have charged less for foreign withdrawal. The fee was almost 10%. When I realized I should have said no. $50usd=37 euros. Also, the exchange rate is terrible bc even with their outrageous fee I should have gotten 42 euros. So it cost me $10 USD to exchange here. This is HORRIBLE.

Slow, impolite service, and a very very poor exchange rate. Euro vs. USD yesterday was 1.07, and $200 USD cash netted me just north of 150 Euro. Looks like they are taking about an 18% commission here, which is nothing more or less than simple theft. There is zero risk to them. I guess it's good to be corrupt bankers.

One of the worst conversion rates I have ever seen in my life. The spread between their exchange rate and the actual exchange rate is over 12% + they charge a 10 eur conversion fee. That's close to being a proper scam!
