Hiring a tradesperson in Germany works best with a clear brief: describe the job, ask for a written Kostenvoranschlag, agree on timing and payment stages, and confirm who supplies the materials. The quote should state whether 19% VAT is included, and a Meisterbetrieb or Innung membership is a sign of formal qualification. Many firms visit before quoting and then send the estimate by e-mail or WhatsApp, which leaves you a record of what was agreed. Keep the Handwerkerrechnung: part of the labour cost is tax-deductible.

Berlin is in the state of Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany; summers are warm, winters grey and cold with occasional snow, and the dense U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus network puts most businesses within a few minutes' walk of a stop. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If you need a plumber in Berlin-Zehlendorf, Mr Patrick Wehner of Philippi Sanitär- und Heizungsbetrieb is hands-down the best choice. The level of responsiveness is truly next-level. He reacted to my initial inquiry immediately, and the ability to communicate via WhatsApp was a total game-changer. It allowed us to quickly send pictures of the issue, which saved us a massive amount of time and streamlined the whole process. We were able to coordinate prices, schedules, and products seamlessly across a time zone 12 hours away with several people involved—something that is usually a logistical nightmare. It’s clear right away that he isn't just your average plumber; he is a certified Occupational Safety Specialist (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit), Health and Safety Coordinator (SiGeKo), and Fire Protection Officer (Brandschutzbeauftragter), so you know you are in expert hands from the very first message. He is also a polyglot—while German is his native language, he also speaks Spanish and English, which makes communication effortless for international clients. While he’s great on WhatsApp, he remains completely professional, following up by email and sending proper invoices immediate

Patrick gave an appointment in a very short time. He was fully booked, but rather than declining he came to make make work at 6.45 am to fix the urgent problem. Prior his visit he took plenty of time and analyzed the problem to take look at the pictures of the problem to make sure he will bring the right armature. It means I did not have to buy anything myself which saved me plenty of time and prevent buying something which would not fit. There is another issue in my apartment, which is not urgent and I could have make another choice. Patrick will come again to this task, which means I am very satisfied with his first work and hire him again without looking any further. By the way, he speaks perfect English.
