Cars in Germany need the main inspection (Hauptuntersuchung, by TÜV or DEKRA) every two years, and a workshop that handles it for you is worth keeping in your contacts. Ask for an itemised estimate before work starts, check whether the price includes labour and VAT, and ask whether original or aftermarket parts are used. A Vertragswerkstatt costs more than an independent workshop but keeps the manufacturer's warranty intact, and winter tyres are required whenever conditions are wintry.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Waiting time to get out more than an hour. At midnight. A joke. And parking costs 8€.

Avoid parking here at all costs! Very poorly managed and they can’t handle the huge influx after big events. It can take hours just to get out of the lot

I dropped off my son here on august 15th and paid 8 euros for the full day ticket. I exited and needed to pay again 8 euros reentering 2 hours later. So double blame: one for the high flat day fee and second for the double charging. Customer de-centricity!

First the positive aspect: There’s a lot of space. The most negative aspect: No matter how long you stay, you always have to pay 8€. Even if you’re just staying for 20mins, you have to pay 8€. That’s almost fraud in my opinion.

Ah, the Parking – where 'spacious' meets 'basic' in the most charmingly rustic way. Picture a vast, open-air lot, a concrete expanse where car slots are more of a suggestion than a reality. It's like a 'choose your own adventure' parking experience! Now, if you're traveling with a stroller, wheelchair, or any form of mobility aid, prepare for a stair-climbing expedition. Apparently, 'barrier-free' is a foreign concept here. And don't worry about those pesky car slot markings; they're clearly optional! Oh, and the broken card slot at the exit? Just adds to the 'authentic' experience. The single payment machine is a masterclass in queue management. Be prepared to bond with your fellow parkers for a good 30 minutes, all while pondering the 8€ parking fee. Apparently, this is a 'one-day parking' masterpiece, designed for those who enjoy paying a premium for the privilege of navigating an obstacle course. The management also claims this fee is for 'maintenance.' I'm guessing that maintenance budget went towards… well, definitely not fixing the broken exit or installing ramps. Seriously, management, if you're charging 'one-day parking' prices, could you at least pretend you care abou
