Bamberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in Bamberg, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

A fantastic hidden gem in Bamberg!!! The historic Vogelsaal is incredible to see in person, and walking inside feels like stepping straight back into a 19th-century expedition or cabinet of curiosities. The original two-story wooden vitrines and glass cabinets are packed with a massive collection of taxidermied birds and animals, all arranged so neatly and kept in great condition. It has an authentic, vintage charm that modern high-tech museums just cannot replicate. Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate classic natural history!

Awesome! Tickets for 5 € are very cheap. The bird collection is very big and the Biosphere movie very good. I loved to get to know the regional fossiles.

Very nice museum. Section on fossils, large set of birds of the world and other mammals (taxidermy and skeletons). Special exhibit on crystals. The birds,et.al are in a very cool baroque room. Tucked in the courtyard of the university but well worth a look and 5 Euro. Note that almost all the signage is in German only.

I loved it! Not a very big museum, but the collections are fantastic, the bird hall is stunning, a lot of specimens are in fantastic shape despite their age. The wax fruit collection is super impressive, don't miss it. The lady at the counter was so friendly! Special thanks to her for the explanation about the frying pan in one of the dino's hands 🦕🍳😄 Including that joke in the display is a great detail and a sign of sense of humour of the museum staff. To note: the ticket is rather cheap, but prepare cash! One hour is enough if you're moderately interested, but for me as a big fan of natural history museums, it was too short, I'd stay for two hours at least, so consider coming earlier than one hour before closing time.

The price was only 2 euros per person and for that we saw a gigantic collection of stuffed birds an education on crystals and gems and a large number of fossils in sandstone shale. It was probably the best 2 Euros I have spent in a long time. My wife really enjoyed it too just be ready for lots of stairs.
