Munich Central Station is okay — don’t expect five-star comfort, but it does the job. The connections are very good, with trains, underground and buses all easy to reach. If you know where you’re going, it’s quite straightforward to find your connection and get around.

Terrible experience at Munich Ostbahnhof. The S8 to the airport simply didn’t run — even though a Deutsche Bahn staff member clearly said “the next S8 goes to the airport.” It was shown on the display for a while, then suddenly disappeared. More and more travelers were waiting, confused and frustrated. The problem isn’t that disruptions happen — that’s understandable — but that Deutsche Bahn gives absolutely no clear information. No announcements, and no staff on the platform to help. Passengers are left completely in the dark, not knowing what to do next. At this point, it’s honestly more reliable to take the Lufthansa Express Bus from Munich Central Station, grab a taxi, or book a Miles car, which you can conveniently drop off at the airport — rather than waiting in vain for an S-Bahn that may never come.

Major station in Munich that has trains going to the airport, Salzburg and Vienna. Plenty of food options available at the station, and being a first timer in Munich it was pretty easy to get around and understand the station. Only 5 stops to Marianplatz. An ideal place to stay for a tourist; close to the action yet nice and quiet.

Trains from this station often run late. Our train to Innsbruck was canceled without prior notice, although they later sent an email to inform us and apologize. The S8 line is currently not operational due to construction. I had always believed that Germans prioritize punctuality and perfection, but after experiencing this station, it seems that customer service takes a backseat.

Nice station and good connectivity with other services like buses & trams. Good service at this station and on time. Haven’t seen any staff but station was clean & tidy. Elevator facility available which I haven’t seen at all stations.
