Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

Opening hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 6–10:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 4489526. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 582 reviews, which is a strong result for a sushi in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

München can't compare with Düsseldorf on authentic Japanese food, this one is so far as close as you can get in Munich area. The portion is pretty big. Price ok for Munich area. Parking very tricky in the area. Major construction work on the streets in June 2026. Make reservation in advance by phone calls only between 5-6pm.

Great food although the price is on the higher end. But would gladly pay since the quality of the ingredients used were amazing. Recommend the grilled mackerel and the sushi platter for two Reservation necessary!

Mitani Restaurant is an authentic Japanese restaurant offering guests several choices from the à la cart or set menus. Reservations are highly recommended as when you visit Mitani, the table is yours for the evening. The sukiyaki or shabu-shabu hot pot menus - €98 for two people - are definitely worth trying especially those who eat meat; they include miso soup, sashimi, sushi, the hot pot and a dessert. There’s another set menu for €38.50 that includes miso soup, a starter of the day - ours was tuna, torikara chicken, vegetable tempura, nigiri and maki, and a dessert. The à la carte menu includes other must try options chirasi and eggplant with miso paste as examples. German and some English are spoken as is Japanese here. Be advised that Mitani is a place where you will be served a high quality meal and it takes time. Cherish the slow pace and sit down and enjoy the culinary trip to Japan at Mitani

Japanese food in Munich tends to be an overpriced, overly Westernised affair but this place stands out as a genuine gem in the dismal Japanese culinary landscape. Food here is good and authentic (albeit the sushi rolls are a tad questionable - I mean Siracha sauce, really?). Prices are still on the higher end given you’re in Munich after all but the torikara, hotpot and nigiri are all solid. The staff are all Japanese and polite as you expect albeit the place is rather understaffed so service can be abit slow at peak hours. The main downside of this place is the rather cumbersome reservation process; and walk ins aren’t entertained either.

Great place for sukiyaki! They also have excellent nigiri sushi with really thick pieces of fish on top, great typical Japanese appetizers with big portions. There were three people working there and all were Japanese, no wonder the food tastes just like in Japan. If only the service was a bit faster I would have given it 5 stars. Also they accept credit card which is great.
