For anything on wheels, from a tyre change to a new vehicle, the basics apply: confirm the price up front, ask about the warranty on parts and labour, and get a receipt. Third-party insurance is compulsory, and the dealer will usually arrange the registration (Zulassung) and number plates for you. Busy periods are the tyre-change weeks in spring and autumn and the days before the summer holidays, and breakdown cover through ADAC or your insurer is worth having.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 6–6:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Knauß Oliver on 0951 29996809; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. More information is available on its website, fahrschule-knauss.de.

With 4.1 out of 5 on Google from 28 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for fahrschulen in Bamberg. German customers tend to review sparingly and critically, so a mid-range score with detailed comments is often a fair picture.

Bamberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in Bamberg, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.
