Bamberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Bamberg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Bamberg's oldest brewery lives up to the tag! I had a quick stop (part of a self curated beer crawl) to try their Braunbier and I was quite impressed! Will stop by again to try their other offerings and food!

Food was good and big portions, couldn't finish it all. Inside was empty so no atmosphere but there was a lot of people sat outside. We shared a table with a couple of locals and had a really good time.

Magnificent Brauerei and Biergarten on the river. Not to be missed in Bamberg. We had a darker Rauchbier and exceptional apple strudel.

We stopped in for a beer and we kept seeing the food come out of the kitchen. We decided to stay for dinner. It was a great decision. Great beer. Great food.

Wonderful pork! So juicy and melting in the mouth with perfect skin crackle. Try smoked beer and strong season special for a local taste. There are some games you can play with kids while waiting. We had a previous reservation, because the place is very special and the oldest brewery in Bamberg. It’s from year 1533. 🤩
