Nürnberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Nürnberg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

I came to this place 2 different times for 2 different reasons (gynecology and ophthalmology - 4 months gap), and neither experience was any different. The staff was incredibly rude and the doctors seemed to be there out of obligation, talking to you with cero professionalism and cero human touch. When you go to the doctor, you seek support (especially because as a HUMAN BEING you feel distressed) and in this place, they don't treat you like a human being. Not even in the info box. With that said, I will share in details what happened on my second visit: Thursday, April 30th, 2026 I arrived at 6:30 pm looking for an ophthalmologist – it was an emergency, on a Thursday. First, when I entered the emergency room, I saw the woman at reception, and before I could explain my problem, she told us: “Can’t you see it’s closed? Why are you here? There’s a HUGE sign that says emergencies are until 6 pm.”… Wow. I went to this place because I can’t see and I’m in a lot of pain, but okay… emergencies apparently have opening hours. After that, they sent me to another desk, where they took my information, and the new receptionist told me, “I’m going to call a doctor, but I don’t know how long

Saving a Kidney When my 74-year-old mother-in-law was diagnosed with a 3.4cm renal tumor in Romania, we were devastated. Due to the tumor's proximity to the renal artery, local doctors recommended a total nephrectomy. We sought the DaVinci robotic surgery for a partial nephrectomy, but local options were unavailable, and waiting lists in South Korea (where robotic surgery is most common) were too long given the risk of metastasis. That is when we found Dr. Ionel Valentin Popeneciu at Klinikum Nürnberg Nord. He is truly a master of robotic urologic surgery. Why I highly recommend Dr. Popeneciu and his team: World-Class Expertise: While others suggested removing the whole kidney, Dr. Popeneciu successfully performed a partial nephrectomy using the DaVinci robot, achieving an R0 resection (complete removal of cancer). Incredible Communication: Before we even arrived in Germany, he responded to our emails and calls instantly—even on holidays. He explained the procedure in detail, calming our family’s anxiety with patience and clarity. Compassionate Care Beyond Expectations: The level of empathy shown by Dr. Popeneciu is rare. He treats patients not just as cases, but as family. The

We are beyond grateful to this hospital and the incredible team who took care of my mom so quickly and professionally. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and handled with absolute precision and care. A special thank you to Dr. Degen, who coordinated and organized everything so efficiently. Her work behind the scenes made the entire process seamless and stress free for our family. Dr. Kapreiter, the surgeon, did an outstanding job. The result is so perfect that we can barely even see the incision anymore. Truly impressive work. Dr. Ulbrich was excellent during the ultrasound, taking the time to be thorough and reassuring, which meant a lot to our family. A very special thank you as well to Mr. Shamsi, who did the pre operative consultation in Arabic. This made a huge difference for my mom, as she doesn’t speak English, and it helped her feel comfortable, informed, and respected every step of the way. The speed, professionalism, and compassion of the entire team were exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for better care and are deeply thankful for everything you did for our family. Highly recommended!

The woman working in that desk at HNO on a Friday at 8am was the most rude person I have ever known. She humiliate me and insult me. I wanted to see a doctor cause I ve been with high fever for 3 days and all i got was this grumpy woman on the desk, after 3 hours waiting i left.
