Great experience for a first time giving birth ! Doctors during pre natal control visits were suggesting inducing because I was well past due date but I refused because baby was doing well (monitoring and liquid) and though it wasn’t the recommended path, they accepted my decision to wait for natural labour without putting much pressure or judgment (I signed a waiver). On the day of birth, it felt really cosy at the ward, with a calm atmosphere and everything needed in the labour room : bathroom, comfy bed, ball, dimmed lights etc conditions are great for feeling “relaxed” (VS a traditional hospital room). I felt so supported by the team there the midwives and doctors are doing a great job ! They let labour progressed and were available when I needed pain medication and always asked if an intervention was suggested (more oxytocin for example or braking my water pouch before pushing) and let me time to think. Low dose Epidural was administered successfully and I could still walk, use the ball, stand up or be on all fours to help labour progress (with assistance of midwives). During the pushing phase (that lasted really long because I was extremely tired I was after 44 hours of

We delivered our first baby boy in MLK first week of June. The overall experience at the hospital was excellent and very satisfactory. The midwives in Kriesaal/Labor room were exceptionally trained, and more importantly very empathetic, optimistic. They all spoke perfect English and we never felt any discrimination. After birth, the room staff was also very supportive. They spoke less English, but we were able to communicate and discuss our problems. The rooms, hallway were super clean and nicely maintained. We would recommend this hospital to all international families in Berlin.
