About JAPATAPA TOSHIBAR

Located at Marschallstraße 2, 80802 München-Schwabing-Freimann, JAPATAPA TOSHIBAR operates as a sushi serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 5–10 pm. It is closed on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach JAPATAPA TOSHIBAR on 089 25546942; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. Its website is japatapa-toshibar.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 170 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded sushi & japanisch in München.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

The restaurant is easy to find and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Seating is quite limited, so I would highly recommend making a reservation. We ordered the Sushi Toshibar Set for two and had a few special requests, all of which were handled quickly and professionally. I really appreciated how accommodating the staff were. The food was outstanding. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and the variety was impressive. One thing worth noting is that wasabi is added to the nigiri by default, so if you don’t eat wasabi, make sure to ask the chef to leave it out when ordering. The quality of the ingredients and the overall execution easily lived up to expectations. The only minor issue during the meal was that the restaurant was quite busy, so service felt a bit stretched. That’s understandable and didn’t significantly affect the experience. What did leave me disappointed, however, was the communication regarding my boyfriend’s birthday surprise. I contacted the restaurant in advance and was told that I could bring a birthday cake, but it couldn’t be eaten on the premises. That was never an issue - I had no intention of serving the cake there. I simply wanted to light the candles

The sushi here is probably the best I’ve had in Munich so far – fresh, high-quality fish and sashimi, and even the wasabi tastes great. The ice cream dessert was also impressive, definitely on par with what I’ve had in Japan. Overall, very authentic with relatively good service. Sake tasting was also interesting. One small downside: the salmon caviar was of average quality and didn’t quite match the level of the other ingredients. It is a bit overpriced, but that’s somewhat expected in Munich – it’s not Asia after all. That said, the atmosphere felt more like an Izakaya due to the dim lighting. Also, over half the guests were wearing suits, which made the vibe a little too formal.

The cold ei in dashi soup was slightly overcooked… The fish was a quite overcooked, I feel it should be forbidden to torch the fatty tuna, but it was okay, wagyu was good but you can tell it’s not truly a5 or if it was the cut wasn’t good as it wasn’t as buttery as normal, the sashimi specifically the bonito was especially fishy and didn’t understand the accompanying decorations as usually you would add something that would enhance flavors but it didn’t do such…but overall l believe it was the food was acceptable and the amount for the price we paid hence, the price was fair for 99€ each person. I felt it was good value and quality for German standards but it wouldn’t be acceptable to Japanese standards. The dessert was delicious and mochi was nice in the dessert.

I got recommendation by friends and tried out the 10 dishes menu. I think the fishes are really fresh and good quality, I liked the beef sushi, but the last beef dish was not convincing. The service is good, the stuffs are kind, nice, and supportive. They introduced each dish before the sever. The environment is fine, not fancy. In general it’s a good experience, perhaps I would like to try the other menu next time.

We had their 10 course menu and the dining experience was very pleasant. Of all courses, the sashimi and nigiri were the absolute highlight. Best nigiri (sushi) I’ve had in Munich so far! If I went again, I wouldn’t get the menu again, but simply just go for the sashimi and nigiri instead! Very authentic Japanese cuisine!
