Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.

Opening hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–11 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Il Sogno on 089 24209364; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. Its website is ilsogno-muenchen.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 1,151 reviews, which is a strong result for an italienisch in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Great break from hearty German meals. Had the antipasto, tartufo taglioni and carbonara. Costa, our server, was very attentive and pleasant 👌🏼👍🏼

Surprisingly good Italian in Munich! We had been craving truffle pasta all week and saw the incredible reviews of this place and had to indulge. Not only was the truffle pasta perfect (sauce to die for), the pizza was both fluffy and crisp with excellent toppings and to top it all off the tiramisu was a perfect 10!

Great foods, real Italian taste, freshly made. Recommended to the Italian visitors and to the gourmet fan.

We went for dinner on a Tuesday night and there were only 2 other tables, but we thought we'd give it a try. Both ordered lasagna, but it was hard, dry, and chewy. You had to cut it with a knife. We ended up sending it back. We were told it had been made fresh at 4:00 that day. Would not recommend it. The server was happy to replace the dish and I got the penne arribiatta. The noodles were from a box but the sauce was decent. Overpriced for what we got. The server was always on his phone so it was difficult to get his attention. Wine was good. Would not return.

The truffle soup was amazing!!! The entrecote was also perfect for my taste, cooked very well. Good coffee and pleasant services. Costi was a great host. Recommend.
