The institute is okay overall, and the staff were generally friendly. However, the exam rooms were quite small, both for the schriftliche Prüfung and especially for the mündliche Prüfung. The preparation room for the oral exam was comfortable though. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with my experience in the C1 Hochschule oral exam (mündliche Prüfung). Despite feeling that I performed well, I did not pass, and I found the evaluation criteria somewhat unclear. Some of my friends also had similar experiences. In my opinion, it might be helpful to attend a course at the institute before taking the exam, as this could help students better understand the expectations of the examiners.

I took an examination at German Studios Köln and had a very good experience. The venue was very clean and well organized, and all colleagues were friendly and helpful. Before the examination, they provided a very useful FAQ and clear instructions, so everything was outlined clearly in advance. This made the whole process much less stressful and very professional. Highly recommended!

I attended the B2 course at German Studios, and unfortunately my experience was disappointing. For three months, a large part of the B2 course focused on very basic grammar explanations and repeated topics instead of progressing consistently at a B2 level. English was also frequently used during lessons for explanations and translations, which significantly reduced the opportunity to practice German in class. Several students raised these concerns multiple times with the teacher. We explained that we wanted more German-speaking practice and more advanced B2-level content. However, we were repeatedly told that the teacher needed to “find common ground” and “not leave anyone behind.” In practice, this often resulted in lessons not progressing at a B2 level as expected. During one week in the final month, another teacher substituted the class. That experience showed that the group was capable of working at a much stronger B2 level when the lessons were conducted differently. The lessons were more focused, more structured, and mostly conducted in German. We were repeatedly told that the lessons had to be adjusted because some students could not follow a stronger B2-level class. Cus

I had an amazing experience learning with Şerin! She is an incredibly helpful teacher who always makes the class interesting and engaging. I learned so much German with her, and she explains everything so clearly and in a way that’s easy to understand. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their German!

I studied German for six months at German Studios with my teacher Evgenia, and the experience was excellent. Evgenia is an extremely knowledgeable and well-structured teacher. She doesn’t rely solely on the textbook; instead, she explains the language in a clear and practical way whenever needed. She constantly challenges you, pushing you to improve while always working within your abilities—so you’re never stuck in your comfort zone, but you’re also never overwhelmed. She is very attentive to her students’ progress and always takes note of our weaknesses, making sure we review them later. Evgenia also goes the extra mile by correcting texts you write, whether they come from the book or from topics you’re personally interested in. She regularly brings additional materials to class to reinforce learning. The course books themselves are also very good, offering a balanced mix of grammar, writing, and group work, which really helps develop speaking skills. In short, Evgenia is everything—and more—than you could expect from a language teacher. As for the rest of the team at German Studios, I have only positive things to say. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and always willing to h
