Bamberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Bamberg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Vehicles parking is problematic. If you miss the parking restriction sign upon crossing the dam or are unaware you will be in for a fine even if you park for less than an hour.

Perfect for relaxing, walking, or enjoying outdoor fun. Kids will love the swings, sand, and water play—especially on sunny days. Cherry blossoms add seasonal beauty, and there’s a small restaurant offering snacks and drinks. A peaceful, family-friendly spot to unwind and enjoy nature in the city.

Park really went downhill after the Landesgarten schau. Still a nice place to walk around, just wish they kept it looking nice afterwards.
