For anything on wheels, from a tyre change to a new vehicle, the basics apply: confirm the price up front, ask about the warranty on parts and labour, and get a receipt. Third-party insurance is compulsory, and the dealer will usually arrange the registration (Zulassung) and number plates for you. Busy periods are the tyre-change weeks in spring and autumn and the days before the summer holidays, and breakdown cover through ADAC or your insurer is worth having.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. Typical hours are 5–6:30 pm. It is closed on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 0176 11797001. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, christiansfahrschule.eu.

On Google it holds a rating of 5.0 out of 5 from 106 reviews, which is a strong result for a fahrschulen in Erlangen and suggests consistent service.

Erlangen is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Erlangen is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

My partner and I had a really good experience with this driving school. Martin and Christian are both excellent instructors. They teach in a very organized and professional way, giving notes after every class. Every lesson introduces new driving situations without dragging out extra classes.

I learned to drive with Martin, and it was a very good experience. He was always very patient, noted the mistakes I made during each lesson, and prepared me very well for the practical test. I could not have asked for a better driving instructor. Christian was also very helpful and organised the theory lessons very well. I fully recommend this driving school to anyone who wants to learn to drive and get their driving licence.

I had a nice experience with Christian's driving school. Both of my driving instructors (Martin and Christian) were calm, patient, and professional, creating a supportive learning environment that helped me gain confidence behind the wheel. A special thank you to Martin, who was an excellent driving instructor. He always explained things clearly and paid close attention to the details that are important both for the driving test and for safe driving in Germany. He helped me understand not only what to do, but also why it is important. One aspect I found particularly helpful was that with both instructors, after each driving lesson, we took notes together on the most important points and on any mistakes that needed improvement. These written notes made it much easier to review the lessons, remember key rules, and make steady progress between sessions. Thank you for helping me through this important step.

Excellent driving school! My instructor was Christian. He is extremely patient, supportive, professional and always gives clear and helpful feedback. I really appreciated the extra effort he puts into teaching, after every lesson he also shared notes with mistakes explained, which made it much easier to understand and improve. Highly recommended!
