About Café Hörnla
Located at Lugbank 10, 96049 Bamberg, Café Hörnla operates as a café serving Bamberg in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. The most common schedule is 5:45 am–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 0951 57985. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak.
Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 302 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded cafés & kaffee in Bamberg.
Bamberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

An absolute gem in the heart of Bamberg! Bamberger Hörnla has been around since 1427, and you can really feel the tradition and history the moment you walk in. The place is beautiful, the products are so well presented, and everything tastes fantastic. Their breads and pastries are simply on another level – rich in flavour, perfectly baked, and you can tell they use natural sourdoughs and long fermentation to achieve that depth of taste. From local Bamberg specialties to classics like pretzels and baguettes, everything we tried was outstanding. A true must-visit in Bamberg if you love good bread, history, and authentic flavours.

Got there very close to closing, but got one of their specialties. It is kind of a funnel cake looking thing but in more of a ball, and it is crunchy. Made with sour cream dough and rolled in sugar. Nice and light. I should have snapped a picture too the name 😉

When traveling I’m always, always looking for the best bakeries. Cafe’ Hörnla, exceeded my expectations. The cafe’ was utterly “gemütlich“ a wonderful easy ambience, with some excellent food. I ordered a walnut bread cheese sandwich and was brought this amaaaaazing slice of very seedy/nutty bread topped with a lovely salad, shredded carrots, cheese and what seemed a white pesto made with walnuts and olive oil. Delicious! I proceeded to order an Erdbeer Kuchen, a quintessential summer cake, and a surprisingly good cappuccino. Could not have been more satisfied!!! The staff was lovely and friendly.

Great little cafe! In fact one of the best I’ve been to in Europe. Staff were very accomodating as a tourist and the food was delicious and more than reasonably priced.

Cakes were super dry when we went there. Hornla was not fresh. Lemon tart was extremely sour & cheesecake was dry. Staff were courteous & friendly.
