Salzgitter is in Niedersachsen, in the flat, windy north between the North Sea and the Baltic, where Hanseatic ports such as Hamburg, Bremen, Lübeck and Rostock set the tone; the maritime climate brings mild winters, cool summers and rain in every month. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Very cool castle ruins, lots of interesting texts about its history there. I think they do tours too but I didn’t go to any. Got to hit my friend with a stick a couple of times tho, would recommend a visit for sure.

Contrary to the previous comment, I loved my visit to Château du Lichtenberg. The welcome is very warm, the shop offers beautiful regional products for adults and educational toys for children. The LEGO exhibition is very well done and demonstrates the great open-mindedness of the managers. And what about the view... Breathtaking! As a bonus, the presence of wooden games offers a great time with the children. It's really ideal for a family picnic. It is well worth the trip. And thank you again for the welcome.

An interesting 12th century hilltop castle ruin in the Salzgitter Hills. The castle saw a lot of action between the 12th century and 1552, when it was destroyed by cannon fire. The current tower was built in 1900, and the wooden platform was added later to see over the treetops. There’s a wide view of the Salzgitter area and Harz foothills. To ascend the tower you need to ask for the key in the adjacent restaurant. The site is situated on a well-developed network of walking trails.
