For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.
Opening hours are published for 4 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–10 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday, Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Bouillabaisse on 0851 37795; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 414 reviews, which is a strong result for a restaurant in Passau and suggests consistent service.
Passau is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Passau is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

My favourite restaurant. I took my girlfriend here for a relaxing evening in november, and even though I dont really like to dine out, this is a must see for people who appreciate a good fish. The restaurant itself is quite small, little more than a niche but once you enter, you will learn to appreciate. The small size adds to the overall charm of the place, making for a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. the decoration is well thought out and placed, the furniture is comfortable and suits the general aesthetic. The personell here is very friendly and competent, which of course is their job, but even so i still like to note my gratitude on this topic because as I said, I dont dine out often, so it helps if the people are forgiving with my occasional cluelessness. also how did that waitress even memorize all the extra things that werent written on the menu? Very impressive. Speaking of - opening the menu had me baffled just as much because not only did it have everything that was written in german translated to englisch on the next page, but it was also gorgeously hand written, which is that little touch of extra effort that I really admire. The cooking itself happens in the

the main chef was really rude that night.. just look at the picture of the “fresh” french oysters!they were poorly thin! i just could not believe that oysters of this quality can be served to customers!!We made a polite complaint, wishing to change to another 2 oysters..but the chef rudely claimed that the oysters were fresh enough..which is clearly a joke..We could not be persuaded and he got really angry and refused to serve us any other dishes at all. He let us get out of the restaurant 🤷 He ruined our wonderful Saturday night. I don’t get it.. it seems that only positive comments are allowed in this restaurant..and no truth are allowed 😑

We found this quaint place and we were able to sit at the bar and see the chefs and staff in action, cooking and plating all the dishes. The food was delicious, staff was friendly and the atmosphere felt like dining in a friend’s home. Worth a try if you’re trying to avoid larger touristy restaurants in Passau. Also, they had a good and affordable wine and beer list. For dessert, the ice cream with caramelized pumpkin seeds is “must try.”
