We stopped by the 3M Bar-Restaurant at the Maximilians Hotel in Augsburg for an afternoon snack. Overall, it was a pleasant break, marked by one very clear highlight and a few points that could be improved. The absolute star was the chips. They are among the best I have had in Augsburg and even across Germany—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and full of flavour, exactly as proper chips should be. In terms of food, we ordered a currywurst burger, a burger for my daughter, and a Croque Madame. The currywurst burger was good, although the curry sauce could have had a bit more intensity and depth. It was enjoyable, but slightly underwhelming in terms of flavour. The burger was correct but fairly average. The Croque Madame, on the other hand, was a bit dry, with the bread slightly overcooked. The drinks were well prepared and served correctly. Service was mixed. One waiter was not very attentive and did not follow the orders carefully, which was disappointing. However, a waitress was much more attentive, professional, and listened carefully, which balanced the experience. Overall, service felt split—half very good, half below expectations. I really like this bar, the waiting staff is very polite (which is not so common in Augsburg) friendly and acommodating. The cocktails are carefully curated and crafted and taste lovely. I had the club sandwich, which was amazing. On the weekends you can also order breakfast. The downside was the capuccino, it was watery and too foamy, but the egg benedict was great.

Service was awful. Sat for 20 minutes before we were even handed a menu. We flagged the waiter and he said someone would come "immediately." It took another five minutes. Then the drinks took another 20 minutes to arrive after ordering. Cocktails are the same price you'd pay in a world class bar in London or New York. We were expecting something pretty good if we're paying prices like that in a small city like Augsburg. Unfortunately the drinks were mediocre at best. Very poorly balanced and just not good enough for the price. I have no problems paying serious money for good cocktails. Sadly these weren't good cocktails.
